HYDERABAD: In a ghastly mishap, a 19-year-old B Tech second year student died on the spot and his two friends suffered injuries after their car rammed a divider and overturned at Road No 3, Banjara Hills here on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sahrat Ali, a second year engineering student of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology. The injured students are Jawed, BBM student and Wazeed, also a student of MJ College. Around 1.30 pm Sahrat Ali along with his friends Jawed and Wazeed came to a hotel located on Road No 3 in a car to have lunch.
“After the lunch, the trio were returning to college. While Sahrat Ali was at the wheel, his two friends sat in rear seat. From the masjid, the trio were proceeding towards Harley Davidson bike showroom where they took a U-turn and were proceeding towards MJ College,’’ SI Harish said.
As the vehicle was crossing the slope of the stretch, the youngster lost control and rammed the vehicle into a divider. The vehicle, after hitting the divider, flung into air and flipped thrice before landing on the divider. Sahrat Ali died on the spot while his friends suffered injuries. We suspect that overspeeding is the reason for the mishap,’’ the SI said.
Police said none of them were wearing seat belts.
Passersby alerted the police, who had tough time retrieving Sahrat Ali’s body from the vehicle. They had to bring metal cutters to cut the wreckage and retrieve the body. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital while Sahrat’s body was shifted to Osmania hospital for postmortem.
Police registered a case of negligent driving and took up investigation.
Three crushed to death after bus rams into car
Hyderabad:Three persons were crushed to death after a speeding TSRTC bus rammed into a Maruti car at Mohabbatnagar gate on the Srisailam highway of Maheswaram police limits on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Brahmachary, Chandramouli and Sneha, all residents of Katedan. According to police, the victims were travelling to the city and when it reached Srisailam highway, the bus rammed into the car. Passerby alerted police and 108 medical emergency service staff. Police registered cases against the bus driver for negligent driving.
