KT Rama Rao tours Old City, vows development

Minister for municipal administration and urban development KT Rama Rao went on a whirldwind tour of the Old City on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: Minister for municipal administration and urban development KT Rama Rao went on a whirldwind tour of the Old City on Tuesday.

Responding to MIM leaders’ request, he assured that a bridge would be built at Falaknuma at a cost of `27 crore to ease traffic congestion. 

Rao said a meeting would be convened soon with HMWS&SB and TSSPDCL officials to discuss the drinking water and power supply issues in the old city. The long-pending Chariminar Pedestrianisation Project would be ready in the next three months, he said.

While inaugurating a community hall at Filmnagar, Rama Rao said 16 new community halls costing ` 26 crore would be ready in three months.

He said that government was mulling over the idea of giving cash to pregnant women under Amma Vodi scheme which is likely to be launched on June 2.
