HYDERABAD: Demand for the yellow metal is back in the city with customers thronging jewellery stores to make advance jewellery bookings for the auspicious Akshaya Tritiya that starts from 1 pm on Friday.
With the wedding season coming up, jewellers in the city are expecting steady walk-ins and advance bookings.
Jishad NK, store head of Malabar Gold and Diamonds in Somajiguda that was bustling with activity on Thursday, said, “Compared to the last year, it is a busy marriage season and hence the sale of gold this year is also much better. This has also spilled over to this auspicious time.”
A customer, Aluri, who believes in purchasing gold on this day, “My wife is Lakshmi for me and hence I purchase jewellery for her every year. We also come to Malabar every year because of their special offers,” he said. He purchased 120 grams of gold and received 120 grams silver for free.
