Hyderabad: Balanagar-Narsapur flyover to be completed in two years

An essentially required flyover (grade separator) between Balanagar Road and Narsapur X Road (1,090 mts) which has been pending for over a decade is going to be reality now.

HYDERABAD: An essentially required flyover (grade separator) between Balanagar Road and Narsapur X Road (1,090 mts) which has been pending for over a decade is going to be a reality now. The project is estimated to be complete in 24 months. To ease traffic snarls on this crucial stretch, a flyover had become the need of the hour as the lanes are packed with traffic jams. The flyover is proposed under Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP). Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao would lay a foundation for the flyover at 3 pm on August 21.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has entrusted the flyover works to BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd as the firm quoted 0.6352 per cent less than the IBM. The cost of constructing the flyover is around Rs 104.53 crore and acquisition of 59 properties (33,176 sq.mts) costed Rs 265 crore.

HMDA has planned to construct six lane (3+3) two way flyover (60 mts) in the direction of Kukatpally Y Junction to Bowenpally crossing the busy Narsapur and Fathenagar Junction (1,090 mts) with obligatory spans at Fathenagar and Narsapur Road junctions.

HMDA officials told Express that flyover from Balanagar to Narsapur X Road has become the need of the hour due to frequent traffic jams on the stretch causing inconvenience to the local people and to workers who are working in the nearby industries. Many road accidents are also taking place due to narrow roads.

The state government accorded administrative sanction for construction of flyover in December, 2016. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) also gave green signal to HMDA for going ahead for the construction after verifying the proposed alignment of the six lane flyover.HMDA also released Rs 25 crore to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) towards acquisition of properties.
