GHMC in Hyderabad holds drive to catch stray pigs in Fateh Nagar

GHMC’s dog squad conducted the drive in Bharat Nagar, Fateh Nagar, Jinkelwada, and four stray pigs were caught.

HYDERABAD: Responding to a news item published in these columns on Sunday titled “Fear of respiratory ailments, tuberculosis haunt Fateh Nagar residents in city”, where issue of stray pigs causing unsanitary conditions in the ward was highlighted, GHMC officials on Sunday held a drive to catch stray pigs.

GHMC’s dog squad conducted the drive in Bharat Nagar, Fateh Nagar, Jinkelwada, and four stray pigs were caught. “Notices were served to owners of the pigs to take away pigs from human habitation outside GHMC limits in the interest of public health.

Owners were also counseled in this regard,” read a message sent by Chief Veterinary officer, West Zone GHMC. The message also stated that action was being taken on owners as per GHMC Act, 1995 to curb illegal breeding of pigs in those areas.
