Rare act: Hyderabad woman protests against cop’s transfer

I don’t have parents to support me. It was inspector Sunitha who has helped me all the way, said Noorjahan Begum.

HYDERABAD: A video of a woman hugging Moinabad police inspector S Sunitha and crying has caught the attention of public and police alike. In the short clipping, 48-year-old Noorjahan Begum is head saying that she was heartbroken as Sunitha was leaving Moinabad on transfer. The inspector is seen breaking into tears and rushing into her anteroom saying, “Why are you making me cry?”

Inspector Sunitha was earlier in-charge of Gachibowli She Teams. Around 11-months ago, she was posted as inspector of Moinabad Police Station.  A few days ago, she was transferred to Cyberabad commissioner office. Soon after knowing about the inspector’s transfer, Noorjahan took a bus from Rajendranagar to the police station to meet her. Noorjahan said since the inspector had helped in resolving her problem, she holds Sunitha in high regard.

When contacted over phone, Noorjahan said, “I don’t have parents to support me. It was inspector Sunitha who has helped me all the way. I will meet any official or minister concerned to request she be retained.”
The inspector Sunitha who said though she had not completed her tenure of two-years, and said she was transferred because of political pressure. 

“We used to receive many complaints from women about eve teasing. I asked our personnel to go in mufti and people were booked for eve teasing. The problems faced by women have come down now,” said Moinabad inspector Sunitha.
