KOCHI: The probe into the arrest of a cheque case accused by a team of officials from Tamil Nadu police and state Crime Branch has brought to light the conspiracy hatched by them to nab the accused without informing the authorities concerned.
Kochi City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, who conducted the probe, on Tuesday submitted the report to DGP Jacob Punnoose.
According to police sources, the report has recommended a highlevel probe as, prima facie there was a conspiracy hatched by certain state police officials in collusion with the officials of the Tamil Nadu police to nab the accused, K N Shaji, of Panampilly Nagar, who had earlier lodged a complaint against DIG (Crime Branch) S Sreejith.
"The local police were not alerted by the Tamil Nadu police when they landed in Kochi to arrest the accused in the cheque bounce case. Above all, it is mysterious that the Tamil Nadu police team got associated with only selected officials of the Aluva Rural crime squad, state Crime Branch and the Temple Theft Investigation Special Team (TTIST) to arrest the accused," police sources said.
