ALUVA: Vehicular traffic has been regulated and restricted in Aluva town in connection with the Sivarathri festival, said Superintendent of Police T Vikram.
KSRTC buses reaching Aluva from Ernakulam will have to take a right turn from Pulinchode Junction, proceed to the Karothukuzhi Hospital-private bus stand-Grand Hotel Junction, reach the Mini Civil Station and terminate the service. The buses will return to Grand Hotel Junction, take a right turn, proceed to Bank Junction, take a left turn, reach the Bypass Junction and head to Ernakulam through the parallel road on the NH. Private buses from Ernakulam will enter the town through Pulinchode, go via Karothukuzhi Hospital and terminate the service in the private bus stand. The buses will return to Ernakulam through the western side of the private bus stand and proceed through the parallel road and back to Ernakulam. Private buses from Perumbavoor and Kizhakkambalam areas will continue the present route to reach the private bus stand. But the outgoing private buses will proceed through the western side of the bus stand and proceed to Pulinchode, take a ‘U’ turn to move to Karothukuzhi Hospital Junction and take a right turn to proceed to the Government Hospital Junction, IMA Hall Junction and Power House Junction to leave for Perumbavoor and Kizhakkambalam. KSRTC buses from Perumbavoor will turn to the Municipal Office from Pump Junction and terminate the service at the temporary bus stand in front of the Town Hall. The buses will return through the same route. KSRTC buses from Paravoor, Angamaly and Kalady will reach Paravoor Junction and proceed eastwards to terminate the service at the temporary bus stand set up at the Manalppuram. The buses will return through the same route. The private buses from Varappuzha will reach Kadungalloor Junction, proceed to UC College Junction, reach Paravoor Junction and take a left deviation to terminate the service in Driving Testing Ground. Private buses from Athani and Kalady will terminate the services at Driving Testing Ground at Paravoor Junction. All private buses will return through the same route. The traffic regulations will commence at 2 pm on Wednesday and continue till 4 pm on Thursday, SP Vikram said. The Motor Vehicle Department will inspect the operation of the buses during the Sivarathri festival in Aluva. Additional permits were issued to private buses to operate special services during the festival days. Four teams of the Motor Vehicle Department will check the buses in different parts of the town. Each team will be headed by Joint RTOs from Mattanchery, Ernakulam, Paravoor and Aluva. The Flying Squad led by Deputy Commissioner P A Sainudeen will inspect the speed of the vehicles. The KSRTC will operate 35 additional services — which includes 18 fast services and 17 ordinary services from other depots to Aluva — in connection with the Sivarathri festival. About 88 services are being operated from the Aluva depot.
