‘Heretic’, one of the best rock bands from Kerala, is all set to release its first full-length album, ‘Words to Epilogues’.

The alternative metal band has chosen December 22, one day after the supposed ‘Doomsday’, for the release date.

“We were looking for an ideal day to release our album,” says guitarist Abhijit Namboodiripad.

“We want to take this moment to inform people not to believe in such concepts.

And, finally, to prove that the world is not going to end… we have miles to go.

” The album, which has nine tracks, deals with basic human emotions and talks about the volatility of the mind.

They believe that emotions should flow through the melody in their music.

A candid video, ‘Thoughts’, was released last week.

“Some songs are harmonious and the power of melody enables the listener to experience various emotions and thoughts,” says Abhijit.

“The melody and vocals blend in a way to create magic.

Each and every song is special.

” After a year of hard work, the album was recorded at a studio with the help of Skyharbor-fame musician Keshav Dhar.

‘Heretic’s’ current line-up consists of Abhijit Namboodiripad on guitars, Kevin Paul Prichard on drums, Akhil Unnikrishnan on vocals, Harish Kumar on guitars and Benjamin Thomas on bass.

Formed in 2005 in Kochi, the fivepiece alternative metal band is now based in Bangalore.

The band been inspired by ‘Killswitch Engage’, ‘Textures’, ‘Trivium’, ‘Avial’ and ‘Motherjane’.

‘Heretic’ has released a threetrack EP named ‘Reprised’ in early 2008.

Having played in some of the biggest venues in the country, ‘Heretic’s’ original ‘Reprise’ was featured on the Headbangers India International Connection compilation CD and was selected to be played on Radio metal, a French Internet radio station.
