Passengers were left in the lurch on Monday when as many as 20 Thirukochi and ordinary KSRTC buses broke down mid-way between Edappally and Aluva at different times of the day. According to the KSRTC officials, almost all the buses were forced to cancel their services owing to tyre complaints.
Apart from tyre complaints, engine problems were also cited by the officials. Meanwhile, Kerala State Road Transport Employees Association (KSRTEA) members alleged that the supervisors who monitor the quality of the tyres during the time of purchase usually compromise on the quality.
