The Heart Care Foundation in association with Lisie Heart Institute and the Cardiological Society of India-Kerala Chapter observed the World Heart Day on Sunday.
The function was inaugurated by Justice C N Ramachandran Nair. ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ for 2012, instituted by the Heart Care Foundation, was presented to veteran cardiologist Dr Rajan Joseph Manjooran by Justice C N Ramachandran Nair. Lisie Hospital director Fr Thomas Vaikathuparambil, chairman of Heart Care Foundation Dr Jose Chacko Periappuram, Cardiological Society of India-Kerala Chapter secretary Dr Jabir Abdullakutty, IMA Kochi president Dr Abraham Varghese, Rotary Cochin Global president Dr Kuriype, Lisie Heart Institute chief cardiologist Dr Rony Mathew Kadavil and chief anaesthetist Dr Jacob Abraham were present. Ernakulam Range IG K Padmakumar inaugurated the training program and said that every one should be aware of the basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The training can be lifesaver as the incidents of apparently healthy individuals collapsing from heart failure is on the rise, he said. The training was imparted to the Student Police Cadets, students and many from the corporate and business segments.
A special awareness program ‘Hrudayasangamam’ was also conducted to educate the bypass surgery patients and their relatives.
