MVD conducts tanker checks

In the wake of the Chala gas tanker explosion near Kannur, the Motor Vehicle Department(MVD) conducted checks on all the tankers from Angamaly to Irumpanam from Wednesday night to Thursday morning. Around 72 vehicles were inspected by two MVD squads and 71 drivers were booked for flouting road safety norms.

The officials stated that a majority of the drivers are not well trained and had poor sense of traffic rules and road safety. “The checks were conducted in two phases,” the official said.
