SH college botany faculty honoured

V J Dominic, Head of the Department of Botany, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, has been awarded the Bharat Shiksha Ratab Award RD of Global Society for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi.

He received the award from G V G Krishna Murthy (Former Election Commissioner) and Bhishm Narain Singh (Former Governor of Tamil Nadu and Assam) at Vithal Bhai Patel House, New Delhi recently.

Dominic was selected for the award for his outstanding contribution in the area of education, social and environmental development.

Dominic is the recipient of the National Environmental Awareness Award in 2008 and Dr Dan Thottakkara Best Student Service Award twice (1998 and 2008) and Dr Dan Thottakkara Best Publisher award in 2011.

He has been a faculty member and researcher in the Department of Botany since 1979 and has made significant contributions to the curriculum development of MG University. As the founder director of the Primrose Nature Club of the college, he has played a key role in disseminating awareness about environmental conservation among the younger generation.
