The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), on Wednesday, handed over 43 cents of land to DMRC for construction of the station building at Ambattukavu.

This is the first piece of land that has been handed over for the construction of a station for the Kochi Metro. According to KMRL authorities, they had already handed over almost 44 acres of land to DMRC so far, for other purposes related to the project.

Meanwhile, the representatives of French funding agency Agence Francaise De Development (AFD) will be visiting Kochi on September 16 for finalising the deal with KMRL for funding Kochi Metro Rail.

The loan appraisal process is now under way and it is expected that the proposal will be finalised by the AFD board in November this year.

The Rs 1,400 crore AFD loan will be mainly used for the purchase of rolling stock and other aspects of the project.
