The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has set up a task force, led by former CII president Subodh Bhargava, with an aim to create a safe environment for women. The announcement in this regard was made by CII president Adi Godrej.
The CII task force will provide inputs to the government-formed task force, which is being chaired by the Union Home Secretary, stated a CII release. The release also stated that to stop such crimes, the judicial system has to ensure that punishment is meted out swiftly and definitively within a specified timeframe, say three months. Secondly, the nature of the punishment must be exemplary and strong enough.
