Paravoor case: Trial adjourned

The case was adjourned as one of the accused was hospitalised

The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court on Wednesday adjourned the third phase of the trial in the Paravoor sex racket case to January 30 based on a police report that an accused in the case has been hospitalised.

The police reported that Aneesh, of Kummanad, the fourth accused in the case, suffered an injury while playing badminton. When the case came up for trial, Aneesh’s counsel filed a leave application citing that the accused was admitted to hospital.

Following this, the court directed the Perumbavoor police to verify the claim by the accused.

After inquiry, the police filed a report that Aneesh was admitted to a hospital in Perumbavoor. Considering this, the court adjourned the trial.

The victim’s father Sudheer and her mother Subaida, Omana, of Okkal, Laiju, of Kunnathunadu, Rinil, of Kunnathunadu, and  Aneesh, of Kummanad, are facing trial in the case. The case was registered against the accused who had sexually abused the minor girl at a rented house on Canal Road, Vengola, on April 2010.
