The parents of a newborn are seeking financial support to save the baby who had a pre-term birth.
The baby girl, born to K G Haridas of Parathode, Idukki, and Sheena, on November 22, is struggling for life at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.
According to the doctors, the child, born after 29 weeks gestation, has hyaline membrane disease, klebsiella and candida sepsis and she requires surfactant ventilatory support along with other measures. The doctors further certified that the child would have to undergo treatment for five more weeks.
The expenses have so far crossed Rs 2.37 lakh. The average expected cost of stay and treatment at hospital is `3.5 lakh. An agriculture labourer working for daily wages, Haridas is finding it difficult to pay the hospital expenses. Sheena has also been admitted because of high blood pressure. The couple seeks the generosity of kind-hearted people.
