Father, sons held on sexual abuse charge

The police arrested a father and his two sons for allegedly abusing two minor girls sexually, in Kothamangalam on Saturday.

The arrested were Kuriakose, 65, and his sons Basil, 24, and Ebin, 22, of Puthuppadi in Kothamangalam.

According to the police, the three persons allegedly raped two girls aged six and eight. The girls were abused when they went to the house of the accused persons to watch television.

Kuriakose and his sons used to invite the girls to their home, promising to give them sweets. The victims were allegedly raped several times by the accused for the last several months.

The incident came to light after the teachers   noted severe changes in the behaviour of the girls.

After a few counselling sessions, the two girls informed about the incident to the counsellors. On the basis of this, the teachers informed the parents who lodged a complaint with the police.

The police on Saturday arrested the three from their house. A case has been lodged under Sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and IPC 375. The arrested were produced before the court and were remanded in judicial custody. The medical examination of the victims were conducted on Saturday.
