Ernakulam runners up

Ernakulam district has bagged the second place with 685 points in the five-day state-level ‘Salabhamela’ organised by national Balatharangam which concluded in Thiruvananthapuram.

About 400 students who won in the district level ‘Salabhamela’ participated in 53 items to bag the prize. This is the third consecutive year that the district has been declared winner in the programme.

Mouroos K Augustine won the Shalabaharaja title in  ‘Narutharangam’,  Govind V Gopal bagged the shalabaraja title for ‘Kathirtharangam’ and Aiswarya Ramesh secured Shalabharani  title for ‘Kathirtharangam’. Campion School, Edappally won the trophy for sending the maximum number of participants for the programme.

Around 3000 students participated in the programme which was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor.  Speaker G Karthikeyan inaugurated the valedictory ceremony.

State chairman T Saradchandra Prasad presided over the function.  Balatharangam Ernakulam district chairman K V Johnson, president Faiba Maria, coordinator Souda C Mohammed received the trophy on behalf of the district from G Karthikeyan.
