MindHelix Technosol, a company based at Startup Village, Kinfra Park, Kalamassery has brought out the updated version of ‘Sentinel’, a smartphone application, for enhancing security of the people.

With a press of a button in a mobile phone users can alert friends and relatives, regarding your exact location and the direction of travel. The application will come in handy against the backdrop of growing atrocities, especially  against women. The application can be downloaded to smartphones by paying `50.

Touted as the ‘world’s first smartphone application for improving security’, it works even without triggering an alert manually. The ‘intelligent’ application can send out alerts even if the attacker forcefully destroys the phone. As the call, SMS and e-mail are sent from an internet server, it keeps the person safer. The application triggers an alert even if the user is not connected to the Internet by sending an SMS with the location to the server.

“The response is good,” said K Kalidasan,Chief Operating Officer, MindHelix. “It has both high and low threat alerts. This can also be used by senior citizens to  alert their doctors or children when in need.”

The user-friendly application can alert people via call, email and SMS with the press of a button. The alerts will show the last known location, time and direction, with tracking information to see live data from the phone and pinpoint the present location.

“We created Sentinel for empowering people who find themselves alone in a threatening situation. The country needs a solution for improving personal security in daily life, and Sentinel is an answer,” said Christin Emmanuel George, co-founder and CEO of the startup. Besides Sentinel,MindHelix has several other apps to its credit including ‘Know Your Police Station’ for New Delhi and the’TukTuk Meter’, for autorickshaws.

MindHelix Technosol according to the promoters is the first IT startup from Kerala to get selected for the US-based Alchemist Accelerator Programme for enterprise product startups.
