A man was found dead with major head injuries in Vengola near Kolenchery on Sunday. The Perumbavoor police has taken four persons into  custody in connection with the incident.

The police suspect that he was bludgeoned by a stone. The deceased is Sivan, 45, Manappurathu House, Arakkapady.

His body was found in front of a shopping complex near a petrol pump in Vengola at 9 pm. Blood stains were also found on the steps of the building closeby.

The police have shifted the body to a private hospital in Vengola. The local people staged protests, alleging the   involvement of migrant labourers in the incident and demanded that the accused should be arrested soon. The protestors prevented the police from shifting the body from the site.

The body would be shifted to Ernakulam General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
