Sex scandal cases: Woman moves HC to issue notice to State

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the state on a plea filed by a Kanyakumari native alleging that her husband was implicated in the Paravoor and Varappuzha sex racket cases at the behest of IG Tomin J Thachankari after a business deal between them ended up in a strained relationship.

The petition was filed by Janaka Jebangelin, of Kanyakumari, the wife of Manikantan, an accused in the sex racket cases.

She said that APG Developers, owned by Thachankari’s wife, had entered into an agreement with the company for the sale of a property for Rs 6.5 crore.

The petitioner further argued that an initial amount of Rs 2.5 crore was handed over, and Thachankari had asked them to sign the sale deed for that amount.

Later, a dispute arose over the deal between her husband and the police officer. The cases were registered owing to the enmity harboured by the police officer against the petitioner’s husband, the petition said.
