UDF convener P P Thankachan has said that efforts would be taken to appoint NREGS volunteers on a permanent basis. Inaugurating the state meet of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employees Guarantee Scheme Staff Association here, Thankachan came down heavily on the CPM.
He alleged that the CPM has cheated farmers and labourers. “Whenever in power, the CPM has ignored the people. They have downgraded themselves to a party that gives promises for obtaining votes,” he said.
INTUC state president R Chandrasekharan presided over the meet. KPCC general secretary T P Hasan, INTUC leader Elsebius Master and K K Ibrahim Kutty spoke.
