Heady treat awaits cine buffs

The one-year long International Film Festival organised by the   District Administration, District Information Office, District Tourism Promotion Council and Kochi Metro Film Society will begin on Friday at  Children’s Park Theatre here.

As part of the festival, movies will be showcased every Friday at 6 pm at the Ernakulam Children’s Park Theatre. A documentary by the Information-Public Relations office will be screened as part of the inauguration. According to District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth, tickets will be sold out to 100 people on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each member will have to pay `100 as fee every month. Initially, the bookings will be through phone and on a later stage, online booking will be introduced.

The film festival is being organised as part of the cultural programmes sponsored by the Sangeetha Nadaka Academy and Chalachitra Academy. The inauguration of the events will be held at the Ernakulam Fine Arts Hall on Thursday.

District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth said the Cochin Film Society and the Metro Film society will be responsible for screening the films. District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth, Cochin Film Society president Suresh Maruthoor, secretary K B Sabu, Metro Film Society president K J Bose, secretary M Gopinathan, T Kaladharan, District Information Officer Chandrahasan Vaduthala and DTPC secretary Jayashankar are part of the  organising committee.

Famous foreign and Indian films will be screened. The first film to be screened is Rithuparno Ghosh’s ‘Chokher Bali’ released in 2003 starring Aishwarya Rai and Prasenjith.
