Ernakulam South Police on Tuesday arrested four persons on charges of attempted burglary and chain snatching.
The arrested includes the juvenile son of the person on whose home the burglary was attempted.
Three adults in police custody have been identified as Praveen Kumar, 22, Kacheriparambu House, Maradu; Binu, 22, Dock Labour Board Quarters, Palluruthy and Abhijith, 18, BSNL quarters, Panampilly Nagar.
According to police, the accused entered the house of Santhosh in Kadavanthara on Sunday.
Santhosh’s friend’s son, also a juvenile, was present in the house.
They sprinkled chilly powder in his eyes, tied him up and decamped with his five-sovereign goldchain.
According to police officials, the four had planned to loot `20 lakh from the house. But they could not find the money.
Abijith, Binu and Praveen Kumar were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate and remanded in police custody. The juvenile will be produced before the juvenile court.
