The Janasree Sustainable Development Mission is the most powerful Gandhian way which has immense power to free the people from the clutches of the negative effects of globalisation, P C Chacko MP has said.

He was speaking at the state-level leadership meet of the Janasree Sustainable Development Mission, in Kochi on Saturday.

Chacko said that it is the strength and unity of over 60,000 people for the last six years, rather than any assistance provided by the government, which has made the venture a success and unrelenting in its mission.

“Some people believe that blindly protesting against everything can put stem the negative impact of globalisation. However, that is a serious misconception. The best examples of how to tackle the issue has been displayed by Amul co-operative society and the coconut industry of the state,” he said. Chacko said that Janasree aims at family empowerment through women empowerment.

M M Hasan, former minister and chairman of the mission, said that Janasree’s campaign has always emphasised on five basic factors, namely food, labour, income, health and gender equality.

“If we could achieve self-sustainability in these basic elements, we could definitely influence the socio-economic and political scenario of the state,” he said.

The state-level leadership camp of the mission will conclude on Sunday. B S Balachandran, secretary, Janasree Sustainable Development Mission and Lathika Subhash also attended.
