Public Works Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju on Sunday handed over a cheque of Rs 3 lakh to Sreeranjini, the widow of KSRTC driver Sadasivan.

He was beaten to death by two unruly men on May 31 in front of the KSRTC bus station here. The minister said the amount was sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund on his request. He said it is unfortunate for a family to lose its breadearner in such an unexpected manner.

The void left by the untimely death cannot be filled by anyone or any soothing words, he said.

The cheque was a consolation to help the family which is going through a crisis period, he said.

Sadasivan died on May 31 following a brutal attack by two men, Anas and Ashraf, who alleged that his bus had hit their bike.
