Twelve minor girls from Karnataka, who were brought into the state allegedly for child labour, were rescued by the Railway Protection Force here on Thursday.

According to the Railway Protection Force, the girls were found along with a Karnataka-based agent outside the station premises.

Though the police questioned the person, he denied the allegations.

However, it was later found that there were plans to sell the girls to some institutions in Kochi for doing domestic work.

The girls are from Karvar village in Karnataka.

The agent has been taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the Railway Protection Force handed over the girls to Childline India Foundation.
