The aroma that wafts through the air from the barbecued veggies and meats is tantalising enough for  foodies who are bored with the regular platter of chapati, rice, appam, biriyani and noodles for lunch and dinner. So,  to pamper the hot and saucy desires of your taste buds, savour the smoky barbecued delights from the ongoing ‘Grills, Steaks & Sizzlers’ festival at Smoke House, opposite Gold Souk.

From the vast a la carte menu, one can opt for the yummy and spicy Mexican grilled chicken from non-vegetarian spread or Spicy grilled prawns from the seafood spread or fire roasted veggies. “The festival is monsoon based and we offer South Indian, North Indian and Continental barbecue flavours at the fest. We have included more preparation styles and options for the fest,” says Makesh V Raj, managing director.

From the non-veg platter, one can go for the chef’s specials in Arabian grilled chicken delicacies like the Alfam Chicken and Al Shawaya chicken. “These are Arabic varieties of barbecue that we have included this year. The chicken is marinated with Arabian masalas and grilled on skewers,” says Arjun Singh, executive chef. Besides these, there is the Malaysian special Sambal grilled chicken where the soft chicken meat is grilled in sambal sauce. Another hot pick of foodies is the Mexican grilled chicken. “In this, the chicken is grilled with taco seasoning,” explains the chef.

One can bite into the the buttered grilled chicken where spicy chicken is grilled in buttered garlic sauce. If in a mood for a desi twist, one can go for the desi char grilled chicken sizzlers. Then there are Chatpata char grilled chicken, Tai grilled chicken- (lemon grass flavoured grilled chicken) and BBQ chicken sizzler.

As Keralites our delight for sea food is eternal. Considering this, the fest also has a vast range of seafood grill dishes to pick from. “During dinner, we have a live sea food counter where guests can choose their fish and accompaniments for the barbecue,” explains Makesh. Spicy grilled prawns and Mexican spicy grilled squid where squid is marinated with Mexican spices and grilled is the hot pick among seafood lovers. Another highlight of the fest is the char grilled octopus where octopus is grilled on charcoal with Indian spices.

For the vegans, the fest has delicacies like Mexican grilled vegetables which is both spicy and tangy, fire roasted veggies and grilled vegetables to pick from.

To top all these smoky delights, foodies can have Brownie with ice-cream with chocolate sauce served on sizzler plate and fruits with ice-cream served on a sizzler plate with caramel sauce as dessert. The fest is on till July 14 from 12 noon to 3 pm and 7 to 11 pm.
