Biju's mother's bail plea hearing on July 7

The High Court on Thursday adjourned to July 7 the hearing on a petition filed by Rajammal, mother of Biju Radhakrishnan, prime suspect in the solar panel scam, seeking anticipatory bail in a case relating to the death of her daughter-in-law in 2006. The state government submitted that the petitioner would not be arrested till July 7.

Rajammal, a retired headmistress, said she feared arrest by the police as she had been arraigned as second accused in the case.

Reshmi, Biju’s first wife, was found dead in a bathroom of the house of the petitioner in February 2006. She said she had been falsely implicated in the case. The police were now trying to arrest her in the case, registered seven years ago. She is now aged 65 and is suffering from various illness, including heart ailments.

The police had summoned and interrogated her on many occasions in 2006, she submitted.
