A technical committee meeting on sand mining has decided to put a three-month statutory ban on the activity in the rivers of the district from July 1.
Though sand mining in the district had stopped by the end of May on account of early arrival of rains, the meeting, headed by District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, has decided to implement the statutory ban from July.
The meeting also decided to allot Rs 1 crore to 23 projects from the river management fund.
