The steel girders over the railway span of the new Rail Overbridge (RoB) constructed near the KSRTC station was installed on Friday. The girder has an overall length of 46.8 m and 8.9 m width, with a total weight of 340 tonnes. This girder, without any middle span, is the longest one used in any RoB in the state.

The operation of launching was done between 12 pm and 1.30 pm. “Now the deck slab over the steel girders have to be installed, and it will take another 15 days,” said an official spokesperson of the DMRC. The RoB connecting Salim Rajan Road and Rajaji Road, near the KSRTC station, is one of the five preparatory works of the proposed Kochi Metro Rail project.
