Maradu Aneesh, the first accused in the Imtiaz murder case, submitted to the police that his enmity with Bhai Nazeer had led to the murder. The police team also collected evidence by taking Aneesh to various places in the city on Wednesday.
According to police, Aneesh named six people who were with him when they murdered Imtiaz at an isolated place near Manjummal. Aneesh had come to Kochi several times to plan and execute the murder. He had taken a rented room and was tracking Bhai Nazeer for the last six months. After coming here, he came to know about the relationship between Imtiaz and Bhai Nazeer. They took Imtiaz to an isolated place where he was tortured to know about the hideout of Nazeer. Imtiaz became unconscious and they left him inside the car near his house in Chittoor. Aneesh revealed that they did not intend to kill Imtiaz who later succumbed to injuries. “The other five people with him are behind bars now and one is to be tracked. We will arrest him soon,” police said.
The statement of Aneesh has been recorded. “We have initiated procedures to take five others into custody who are lodged in various jails in Tamil Nadu and Kerala,” police said.
Imtiaz, a close associate of gangster Bhai Nazeer, was murdered owing to gang rivalry. Imtiaz was running the real estate business of Bhai Nazeer. He was also a mediator on behalf of Nazeer when business disputes took place between the realtors.
