Road show on water conservation

On Saturday, Kochi sat up and took note of a handful of students from Kuttamassery High School who staged a roadshow on ‘Water Conservation.’ The  students, part of the school eco club ‘Haritha Sena’, conducted the road show from Aluva to High Court Junction. The youngsters carried informative placards aiming at educating the crowd. They were coordinated by S Sitaram, environmentalist and Ernakulam District Coordinator, National Green Corps.

“It is nice to see children take up the initiative to spread awareness about the issue in such a unique style. We have been getting warm response from the crowd too. It is not often you see students do something so different, especially those from  government schools, located in the interior parts of the district,” he said.

The road show was marked by shingari melam and Ottamthullal, composed and choreographed by teachers. “This is not the first time our students are staging a road show. We had conducted a similar one on spreading awareness about illness during monsoon The show was quite a hit in and around Kuttamaserry and few other parts of Aluva,” said Laila, teacher in charge.The toad show had halts at Aluva, Kalamassery, Kakkanad, Palarivattom, Kaloor and High Court Junction.
