Laity Assembly to conclude Wednesday

Kerala Laity Assembly, jointly organised by the Kerala Catholic Federation and the All India Catholic Union, is being held in Kochi from March 11 to 13.

The assembly has been organised as part of the ‘Year of Faith’ observation.

‘Role of Christianity in Building the Society’ is the theme of the Assembly.

“The documents of the Second Vatican Council and the role to be played by the church in various sectors of the society are the topics for discussion at the meet,” leaders of the organising committee said in a press release. The Assembly, which is being held at the Renewal Centre, Kaloor, has witnessed the participation of people belonging to Latin, Syro Malankara and Syro Malabar denominations of the Catholic Church. A meeting of the organising comittee held the other day was inaugurated by Bishop Varghese Chakkalakkal, chairman of KCBC Laity Commission. Kerala Latin Catholic Association president Shaji George presided over the meet.  KCBC Laity Commission secretary Jose Vithayathil is the convenor of the organising committee.
