Youth congress members staged a dharna in front of the Ernakulam North police station on Tuesday night alleging that the police misbehaved with Hibi Eden MLA.
Earlier, the control room flying squad had taken a Youth Congress member into custody from Kaloor for riding a bike without carrying original driving licence.
After hearing about the incident, Hibi Eden MLA reached the North police station to enquire about the incident and get the member released. However, it was alleged that the cops misbehaved with the MLA at the police station. Meanwhile, the Youth Congress activists who were present at the station found that a policeman had consumed alcohol while on duty, which was later confirmed after medical examination.
On primary examination in the presence of the assistant commissioner, it was found that he was drunk. Later, the Youth Congress member taken into custody was released. It is learnt that action will be initiated against the ASI and the cop for misbehaving with the MLA.
