Muses of nature

A group of artists through their works attempt to recapture the culture of Kerala through their paintings. Works done in a melange of mediums including oil painting, water colour, acrylic and also the prints of the classic works of renowned artists are on display at Muses Art Gallery, Kalyan chambers. The artists behind these works are mostly from the city.

Nature in its myriad form appears to be the predominant theme in many paintings. The lush greens, spiraling rivers, boats, and lifestyle of people in the coastal regions keeps recurring in the works exhibited.  A particularly awe-inspiring piece is a pot painting that has portrayed the rustic life of a village belle. Another catchy work is that of the embossed figure of a Mohiniyattam dancer that has an ethereal elegance. The Kathakali artist’s portrait is another work that will attract the attention of the art viewers.

Anil Narayanan, James Palluruthy, Francis, John Vaduthala, Haridas, Rajesh, Jeevan, Sinoj are some of the artists participating in the exhibition. The show will be there till May 22.
