The Kerala High Court on Tuesday ordered three days of police custody for K Purushotham Pandey, son of a retired IAS officer from Karnataka, who is the key accused in a case of cheating.

Sreenivasan, a resident of Palarivattom in the city had registered a complaint against Pandey accusing him of cheating and theft.

Justice B Kemal Pasha issued the directive while considering a petition filed by Palarivattom police.

According to prosecution, Pandey was staying along with his family in Sreenivasan’s sister’s house.  Pandey took a sum of Rs 15 lakh from Sreenivasan promising to give him shares of the company.

Pandey convinced reenivasan’s family that he was a senior official working with Spice Telecommunications and had come to Kerala to establish the company here. Pandey and his family allegedly disappeared with the money the very next day.

The family members also allegedly took away furniture, a television, refrigerator and other items from the house.  Pandey was remanded in judicial custody on April 29.
