The Economic Offences Court here on Wednesday dismissed a bail petition filed by Hareesh Babu and Biju Abraham, who were arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for smuggling out gold worth Rs 90 crore from the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The Judicial First Class Magistrate, who is having the additional charge of the Economic Offences Court, denied them bail.
Meanwhile, an anticipatory bail petition of Prasanth Mehta, managing director of Rajeesh Exports, was taken up for the consideration of Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court. The plea was adjourned to Thursday.
