Coir Board chairman G Balachandran has said that the development of coir geotextiles has great scope in India.

He was speaking after inaugurating the workshop organised by the Board for officials of Coir Board showrooms and coir regional offices across the country, in Alappuzha.

Balachandran said that coir geotextiles could help in preventing the loss of the upper layer of soil owing to various reasons. He also asked the panchayats to come up with projects using coir geotextiles. Experts in coir geotextiles took classes at the workshop. The workshop was organised as part of the attempt to promote technological development for coir geotextiles.
