Pet and Aqua Expo attracting huge crowd

The Pet and Aqua Expo 2013 which commenced here the other day is witnessing a huge crowd. A variety of birds, animals and fishes are on display at the expo that is being organised by the Cochin Entertainment Centre. 

The expo being held at the Veli Ground at Fort Kochi will conclude on May 26. Nearly 30 species of exotic ornamental fish, which are now being bred across India, are drawing in people. Arapima, one of the largest freshwater fish that weighs up to 400 kg and costs nearly `80,000, is the highlight among the pisces variety.

The common Gold fish, Red Oscar, White Oscar, Talking Cat fish, Feather Fish, Bubble Eye Gold, Flower Horn, Yellow Severum, Lipstick Parrot, Fresh Parrot and Alligator Gar are also on display. The ornamental fish were exhibited by Aqualand Aquarian and they have set up a stall that sells fish, aquarium plants and accessories.

The Pigeon Foundation has displayed many varieties like American Fan tail, Magpie, Lilly Pouter, Nun pigeons, Jacobin pigeons and Mudhina . The main attractions are Norwich Pouter, characterized by their large inflatable croups and Parlor roller, known for its unique performance of turning somersaults on the ground.

A large number of dog varieties are also displayed like Labrador, Doberman, Dachshund and Minpin. A number of Persian and Siamese cats also invite the attention of the onlookers. They have been featured by Anzaz pets and Fort Kochi Kennels.

Gallop Cochin has displayed a horse, named Pooja and its colt Immanuel which is only 11 days old. Farm animals like cows and ducks are also on display.

Several other stalls have also been set up by FACT Cochin, Matsyafed Kerala, Vanitha Ayur, Tupperware, Lifetime health care, Kudumbasree and other self help groups etc. The entrance fee for adults is Rs 50 and Rs 20 for children.
