19th Int’l Book Fair Begins

Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar inaugurated the 19th International book fair in Kochi on Friday.

Kerala Governor Nikhil Kumar inaugurated the 19th International book fair in Kochi on Friday. He said that with books came thoughts. “In thoughts lingers the knowledge which ultimately leads to power. With the power acquired from knowledge, youth can contribute to the development of society whether it be intellectual, moral or material,” he said.

D C Kizhakkemuri’s book ‘Karuppum Veluppum’ was released by the Governor by handing over a copy to writer T Padmanabhan. A multimedia-app on Vaikkom Mohammed Basheer was also launched on the occasion by the Governor. Mayor Tony Chammani presided over the meet. Excise Minister K Babu delivered the kenote address. Critic and writer M K Sanu, writer C R Omanakuttan and Anees  Basheer, son of Vaikkom Muhammed Basheer also spoke. The fair which began on Friday will conclude on November 14.
