Man arrested for trading illicit liquor

Police officials at Thoppumpady police station on Saturday arrested a person for illegally preparing Indian Made Foreign Liquor(IMFL) by mixing cheap liquor with premium brand liquor and selling it at home.

Police officials at Thoppumpady police station on Saturday arrested a person for illegally preparing Indian Made Foreign Liquor(IMFL) by mixing cheap liquor with premium brand liquor and selling it at home. According to the police, the arrested person was Iqbal, 41 of West Karivalipady. The police received the information from volunteers of Janamaithri police programme.

The police had seized 116 bottles of IMFL of various brands from the residence of Iqbal. “Iqbal purchases premium and cheap liquor from Mahe and Thiruvananthapuram. He also buys seal, bottles and hologram from More Bazaar in Chennai. Later, he mixes the cheap liquor with the premium brand, seal it and sell it at his house at high price. We are investigating whether there is a gang behind Iqbal,” a police official said.
