Bhavan's cultural fest to begin

The 20th All-Kerala Bhavan’s Cultural Fest will be held at Bhavan’s  Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara on November 8 and 9.

The 20th All-Kerala Bhavan’s Cultural Fest will be held at Bhavan’s  Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara on November 8 and 9. Director Renjith will  inaugurate the fest on Friday. Rakesh Saxena, director, Shikshan Bharathi, Mumbai, E Ramankutty, director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra, Jaya Jacob, principal, Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara and Usha K, principal, Newsprint Vidyalaya, will participate.

‘Shanthi Parvatham’, a pageant paying tribute to legendary founder of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kulapathi K M Munshi, and depicting the traditional art forms of Kerala, performed by students of the host school will be the curtain raiser event of the inaugural programme.

The fest which aims to enable students to showcase their intrinsic artistic skills and literary inclinations will see students from about 30 Bhavans schools across the state competing for the coveted prizes in 85 events.  Competitions will be conducted for five categories, including students from Std 1 to Std 12.

The awards of ‘Bhavan’s Prathibha’ and ‘Bhavans Jyothi’ will be conferred on students securing maximum points in each category, of the boys and girls sections respectively.

Another highlight of the fest will be the exhibition on the life and works of Kulapati K M Munshi, the illustrious founder of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, put up by students of the seven Bhavans schools, functioning under the aegis of the BVB, Kochi Kendra.

The two-day fest will draw to a close on Saturday evening with the valedictory function.
