The All India Coir Road show titled ‘Kranti Express’ organised as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Coir Board was given a red carpet welcome in Kochi on Saturday.
Anwar Sadat MLA inaugurated the function and Hibi Eden MLA presided over. Chairman Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) N Venugopal delivered the key note address.
The road show was organised to spread awareness on the developmental opportunities of the coir business. Kranti Express showcased exclusive items like children’s clothes, tiles and sculptures made in coir.
The road show included a painting competition as well.
Coir board chairman G Balachandran said that the road show commenced from Kanyakumari and will conclude on November 25.
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee will participate in the concluding ceremony, he said.
