A state-level seminar and workshop on ‘Empowerment of Fisherfolk and Archiving Traditional Knowledge of Fishermen’ will be held on the campus of The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) on Friday.
The seminar will be organised by the ‘Pandit Karuppan Chair’, a recently constituted entity aimed at the socio- economic empowerment of fisherfolk and archiving traditional knowledge of fishermen, under the School of Management and Entrepreneurship of Kufos.
Towards achieving its objectives, there will be series of sessions and group discussions pinpointing relevant topics useful to the fisheries sector and to enrich the activities of the Chair as well.
Participants of the workshop will comprise fishermen, leaders, scientists, MLAs and administrators.
Fisheries Minister K Babu will inaugurate the seminar. Kufos Vice-Chancellor B Madhusoodana Kurup will preside over. MLAs Dominic Presentation, S Sharma, T N Prathapan and Abdurahman Randathani will be present.
Kumbalam grama panchayat president M G Satyan, Kufos governing council member K K Radhakrishnan, Pro-VC C Mohanakumaran and CMLRE director V N Sanjeevan will speak.Pandit Karuppan Chair Professor of Eminence K S Purushan will welcome the gathering.
