The Palarivattom police on Thursday registered cases against eight persons for selling tickets of the India-West Indies ODI match in black market on the stadium premises. According to the police, the accused persons were allegedly selling tickets for double rate of the actual price.

“They were selling Rs. 200 tickets for Rs. 500, Rs. 500-ticket for Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,000 tickets for Rs.2,500,” the police said. The arrested were released on bail as all of them were selling only two or three tickets each.

“They were trying to make money from the couple of tickets they got.

“All were trying to take advantage of the high demand for the tickets. Prima facie, they were not part of any rackets.

“Hence, they were released upon paying the fine and getting bail,” the police said.
