Health officials of the Kochi Corporation on Saturday conducted a raid at a temporary settlement for migrant labourers set up near Thalipparambu junction at Vennala here.
The officials said the workers were living in unhygienic conditions. “The workers were housed in a temporary shed and were living under unhygienic conditions. We have issued a notice to close down the facility immediately. The shed was set up on land owned by Balakrishnan,” said T K Ashraf, Kochi Corporation Health Standing Committee chairman.
Councillors M B Muraleedharan, N A Shafeek and Valasalakumari had accompanied the team consisting of health inspectors B Sasikumar and Wilson and junior health inspectors Noushad and Abdul Rafeek.
“There is a chance for an outbreak of contagious diseases in that area as food waste is being dumped in the area,” Ashraf said.
