School gets award

The Sarada Krishna Iyer Memorial Award, established by the Kerala Hindi Khadi Pracharak Samithi, has been presented to Kendriya Hindi Mahavidyalaya, Alangad, for organising the best Hindi week.

The Sarada Krishna Iyer Memorial Award, established by the Kerala Hindi Khadi Pracharak Samithi, has been presented to Kendriya Hindi Mahavidyalaya, Alangad, for organising the best Hindi week.

M K Sanoo inaugurated the function in which the award was presented by former Supreme Court judge Justice V R Krishna Iyer at Sadgamaya Centre here on Sunday.

Chief patron Justice P K Shamsudeen presided over.

The meeting also felicitated Krishna Gopinath, who provides music lessons to differently-abled children. Sanoo distributed money collected for the treatment of Deepu, a journalist, and the family of Tanuja, a student of Aluva Blind School. Justice Krishna Iyer was given a citation prepared in braille by students of the blind school.

Former MP Sebastian Paul, Samithi state president Thilakan Kavanal, general secretary K M Nasser, treasurer A A Baburaj, Ernakulam Press Club president Ravikumar, Hindi scholars P K P Kartha, Prof Radhalakshmi Ammal and A U Ayub Khan spoke.
