Though he has won the gold for high jump (senior boys) in the School Athletic Meet here on Monday, Sreenith Mohan was dissatisfied with the ways of the officials. According to Sreenith, the officials did not give him enough time to the practise ahead of the high jump competition.

“We were allowed entry into the Maharaja’s College ground, the venue of the Athletic Meet, only 30 minutes prior to the competition.

We had reported at the venue nearly one and a half hours before the competition. Even after entering the ground, we requested for time to practise which was promptly denied,” alleged Sreenith.

Sreenith bagged the gold by jumping 2.10 metres. Last year, he  jumped 2.11 metres in the School Athletic Meet. However, his individual record is 2.16 m. Sreenith said  that had they got some time to practise before the event commenced, athletes, including himself, could have clocked better performances.

Meanwhile, the official denied the allegations and said that enough time was given to Sreenith who failed in utilising it properly. Sreenith is a student of Elamakkara GHSS.
